Take a trip down memory lane with the gear Tiger Woods used to devastating effect throughout his career

- The Titleist 975D driver was produced from 1998 to 2001. This driver was aimed at mid- to low-handicap (intermediate to advanced) golfers, much like many clubs in the Titleist line. The 975D was used by Tiger Woods during his 2001 PGA Tour season.
Over the ensuing years, Woods gradually swapped out his Titleist clubs for Nike clubs. For example, Woods switched to a Nike Forged driver in 2003, went back to a Titleist driver, then stuck with Nike drivers for good after trying the Nike Ignite in 2004.
Nothing gets the juices flowing among gear nerds like a Tiger Woods equipment change.
When he signed his first professional deal in 1996, Nike only made shoes and clothing so he used gear from other brands until they joined the hardware game.
So let’s take a look at some of the 15-time major champion’s iconic gear from down the years…

1. Iconic Tiger Woods equipment: Scotty Cameron Newport 2 GSS putter
Arguably the most significant piece of equipment used by any player in the history of the game.
Woods used the Scotty Cameron Newport 2 GSS putter for 13 of his 14 major victories – but he always favoured a Ping grip.
He switched to a Nike Method putter and found his way back to the top of the world rankings but never won a major with it.
Woods went back to the Scotty as soon as Nike left the hardware game in 2016.
The 2020 Masters is certainly going to be a tradition unlike any other. Sure, the game’s best players will once again descend upon Augusta National Golf Club to take on one of the most iconic courses in the world, but there won’t be patrons lining the fairways or roars echoing through the pines. There won’t be azaleas or dogwoods in bloom either, but it doesn’t matter. Two weeks before Thanksgiving, the opening round of the Masters will begin.
Over the years, certain clubs have contributed to the lore of the Masters: Phil Mickeson’s 6-iron that he used to hit between two pine trees on the 13th hole in 2010, Bubba Watson’s wedge from the trees on the right of the 10th fairway in a 2012 playoff against Louis Oosthuizen and Tiger Woods’ putter, to name just a few.
Below is a list of every Masters-winning piece of equipment since 2010. Enjoy the memories.
